The Francophone Short Film Festival – Un poing c’est court is a major cinematic event held in Vaulx-en-Velin since 2001. It promotes cultural diversity, the French-speaking world, and media education by showcasing short films from various Francophone countries. Supported by a dedicated association since 2008, the festival follows a civic-minded approach, addressing themes such as social engagement, equality, the fight against discrimination, and cultural diversity. All selected films are presented in competition, offering real opportunities for recognition to emerging filmmakers and young talent.The festival has both national and international reach, attracting films and audiences from across the Francophone world. It also reflects the cultural richness of Vaulx-en-Velin, a city home to more than 50 different nationalities.The juries are composed of cinema professionals, but also of students – from kindergarten to high school – and local residents trained in short film analysis, reinforcing the festival’s local roots, its commitment to film literacy, and civic participation.
