It is organized every year in October, by the association La 25e image, on multiple sites in as many regions and cities as possible. In 2023 it took place in more than twenty cities in mainland France.
The general objective of the festival is to raise public awareness of the experiences of people in social difficulty and the realities of work and social intervention through cinematographic representation.
The festival can thus contribute to promoting social work, encouraging vocations, strengthening educational approaches, questioning professional practices and more broadly raising awareness among all citizens, developing their empathy and contributing to greater social cohesion within our society.
The Social Film Festival is both a social and cinematographic event.

The sixth edition of the festival will take place from October 7 to 10, 2024 in around twenty cities in France.

Specific criterias
The selection is open to films meeting the following conditions :
? short and feature films (more than 4 minutes and up to 2 hours),
? of all genres: fiction, documentary, animation,
? French-speaking or subtitled in French,
? products since January 1, 2022.
The films are selected based on two types of criteria :
? cinematographic quality: the film must be a work with artistic ambition, assessed with regard to the quality of the image, the script, the direction, etc. No format is excluded a priori.
? the way in which the film serves the objectives of the festival, in particular to demonstrate singularity.
