Created in June 2019, SIROCCO is an association of cultural and social mediation whose purpose is to set up «Meetings of Arab cinemas of yesterday and today». Born of a common interest of its founding members for Arab and Berber cultures through the image and cinema, this association wants to give visibility and space to these little known cinemas in Corsica. It aims to promote a better knowledge of Arab cultures and encourage exchanges around films made in (or about) the Maghreb, the Middle East, the Middle East and within the Arab-Berber diasporas. SIROCCO’s mission, within the framework of the «Rencontres des cinémas arabes d'hier et d'aujourd'hui» is to discover and rediscover a cinema that is sometimes unknown, to welcome directors, actors but also writers, historians and musicians, to animate a space of exchanges with a large audience.
The films must relate to "the Arab world" in its widest possible acceptance.
