The Chants contre Champs festival highlights short films with original music, music videos and voice work on Angers. The DNA of the festival is focused and strongly anchored in the relationship between music, sound, image, sound effects and voice work. In addition to the short film and music video competition (which have two separate professional juries), there will be dubbing workshops, concerts, blind-test animations and round tables. 4 prizes are awarded: Chants contre Champs prize, Best Original Soundtrack prize, Music Video prize, Student Jury prize.

Chants contre Champs is a multidisciplinary festival in Angers dedicated to short films with original music, music videos, and voice artistry. It highlights works in which image and sound fully interact through screenings, talks, cultural outreach, and artistic events.

Specific criteria

EXCERPT FROM THE RULES: ARTICLE 4 – Eligibility Conditions

Works may compete for the official selection provided they meet the following conditions:

- have been completed after June 1, 2025;

- comply with the criteria specific to the chosen category;

- not exceed a maximum running time of 20 minutes, including credits, unless otherwise specified by the festival;

- have obtained all necessary authorizations for their exploitation, screening, and distribution within the framework of the festival.

For the Short Film category, the music must have been composed specifically for the film. The following are notably excluded from this category: works using library music without genuine original compositional work; works based on pre-existing tracks not composed for the film; covers, remakes, or adaptations of musical works belonging to other artists, unless expressly authorized by the festival in a duly justified specific case.

For the Music Video category, applicants must be able to provide proof of the rights required for the use of the track and the images presented.

The producers, directors, composers, or rights holders of the submitted works guarantee that they hold all rights necessary for the presentation of the work within the framework of the festival.
