Festival du Court Métrage au pays de Gabin
Edition n°14 - 2026
From 13 to 14 November 2026
Selection announcement date 12 October 2026
Mériel, FRANCE
The town of Mériel maintains a close connection with cinema. Jean Moncorgé, better known as Jean Gabin, grew up in Mériel at the beginning of the 20th century. His childhood years in Mériel played a fundamental role in shaping his charisma as an actor, contributing to his cinematic legend. It was in this context that the Short Film Festival in the Pays de Gabin was created in 2013, with the support of the municipality and the Society of Friends of the Jean Gabin Museum. Like Jean Gabin, who, at the height of his career, often reached out to young artists such as Jean-Paul Belmondo, Alain Delon, and Gérard Depardieu, the festival aims to be a springboard for contemporary forms of expression for young film talents, and often a first professional step for the actors and directors of tomorrow.
