The event has a number of objectives. Firstly, the event helps to promote and popularise short films among the general public, whether young, novice, initiated or even professionals in the art of filmmaking. Secondly, it provides an opportunity for spectators and filmmakers to meet up, exchange ideas and share their experiences.
All films are screened in French and must be no longer than 5:25min. Only fiction films are accepted; animated films and documentaries will not be screened or accepted. Films must be audio-described or subtitled to enable everyone to take part in the Festival. The MJC Intercommunale d'Ay also offers daytime screenings for schools, from nursery to high school. These short films are suitable for a young audience and are shown in the MJC or directly in the school. The films shown in the evening are generally more complex and aimed more at an adult audience. This year, there will be a wide range of screening venues, with several towns in the Grand Est region taking over the competition, with the aim of promoting the art of cinema and offering everyone a rewarding and participatory festival.
All spectators will be able to vote for their favourite short film, and several prizes will be awarded. The films in the official competition will be presented to the public and the jury at the awards evening. Panorama evenings, featuring between 3 and 5 very different films, will also be offered as part of the festival.
