The Villeurbanne Short Film Festival, since 1979, has taken place in November in Villeurbanne, and aims to highlight the short films format in theaters. This festival is a must of its kind in France. With an International Competition and an Animation Competition, the festival rewards the best of shorts films!

The international competition is open to professionally produced short films from French or international production companies.

The following are excluded from this section:
- Animated shorts
- Student shorts
- Self-produced shorts
